Why Do We Exist in This World?

A raw reflection on purpose, responsibility, and why living in the present matters more than chasing an endless future.

The real question is, why do we exist? What is our purpose? Is it simply to pass on our generations from one to another, living for something competitive that ruins our happiness and daily life? Is that all we are supposed to do? If God created us, then is this the purpose of creating humans, and is it all the responsibility we need to have?

These questions arise in my mind whenever I face struggles or difficult times. Family expectations, real life competitions, and the pursuit of success all lead to one single thing: a better future. But the question is, what is this better future, and for whom? Are we supposed to struggle throughout our lives, facing all the phases and compromises, just to expect a better future that we are already struggling for today?

This better future seems to end with every new achievement, only leading to the next life goal. And then that goal again turns into another expectation. It feels like an endless cycle that keeps moving forward until life itself ends.

In our youth, we struggle for a better adulthood. As adults, we struggle for a better family, and our families struggle to make us happy and provide a better path. After that, we chase the future of our children, their ways, their tensions, and everything that comes with it. In old age too, we often face the same struggles and expectations from our children, leaving our minds restless.

With all these confusions and conflicts, the real question becomes: why not live today?

We need to enjoy our present moment without excessively worrying about the future. Planning for the future is important, but it should not become our sole focus. Life is a journey, and time is something precious that can never be reclaimed. If we constantly sacrifice the present based on future expectations, we risk ruining both the present and the future.

The strange thing is that the pursuit of the future is an endless cycle. One goal leads to another, one achievement creates another pressure, and one responsibility opens the door to the next.

From my own experiences, I have come to the conclusion that we should build a stable future while also enjoying the present moment. It is important to strike a balance between planning and living in the moment. If you can live your life without unnecessary stress or responsibilities, then why do you let yourself feel so burdened?

We are the generation that inherits our ancestors’ mindset, or maybe we do not even stop to think about why the next generation must continue. Why do we have the responsibility of taking care of our families? Honestly, I believe that if you do not have goals of becoming stable or taking responsibility for anything, then why are you committing yourself to the next generation? Why are you finding love? Why are you planning marriage or family?

If you are willing to take responsibility for your family and the generation shift, then you should definitely think deeply about it. Consider the better future for yourself and your family. But if not, then why force yourself into it?

I believe our parents raised us and fulfilled all their responsibilities, so in many ways they naturally become our responsibility too. Taking care of their lives and your own life first can make the future feel less burdened.

If you are thinking about extra responsibilities, starting a new family, or passing on a generation, then you should first make your own future goals clear and work for them. You cannot have family goals and a completely carefree mindset at the same time. Once you take responsibility, you have to work for it.

I know different people have different goals. If you truly have a goal, or if you genuinely enjoy the work you are doing, then you should absolutely do it. But if not, why stress yourself with all these things?

Earn enough to take care of your parents. Work for yourself. Work on yourself. Earn enough, enjoy every moment, explore the world, and maybe along the way, your life goals may change too.

I think the real purpose of our existence is not just to randomly pass on generations. We are not forced to choose that path anyway. We can define our own paths, so we should feel free to choose the way we want and take action accordingly.

Value your existence. Live it with whatever truly makes you happy, and conquer.

That’s all I guess.
